Lepricon are unveiling the first of their gaming dApps, Lucky Wheel.

This game runs entirely on Leprichain, an innovative gas-free Ethereum-compatible side chain.

It has been designed expressly for games and other blockchain-dependent dApps which require frequent repetitive smart contract calls.

  • First dApp deployed on Leprichain, Lepricon’s gas-less Ethereum compatible side-chain
  • Lepricon will use Lucky Wheel to optimise Leprichain performance
  • First step in Lepricon’s development of blockchain solutions for the mainstream gaming indust

About Lucky Wheel

Lucky Wheel is a simple Wheel Of Fortune-style game. Select how much a user wants to play (up to 10,000 SL3P) and press the button.

Users can win up to eight times their stake. If a player wins, the winnings are instantly deposited directly as SL3P (Leprichain L3P) back to the player’s wallet.

The smart contract randomizes according to the fixed drop rates, which can be found in the help section.

To play, a user needs to own L3P (which can be bought on Uniswap). Then the player must bridge/stake their L3P as SL3P on Leprichain (which can be done here). And then visit Lepricon City and load up the game.

The first time a user plays, they will need to approve the game to access their wallet. At this time, Leprichain only works with MetaMask. A link in the sidebar menu will take the user to the block explorer to look at the game’s transactions.

Later versions of Lucky Wheel will occasionally drop NFTs from Lepricon’s growing NFT vault. Players just never know what might be in the wrapper.

Note: The game is fully functional on mobile if a user plays in the MetaMask browser, but the wheel animation has some issues with a smoothness that will be ironed out soon. This visual issue does not affect the fairness of the gameplay.

It’s not really about the game

The game is a little bit of fun, and it is pretty, but it is not the most significant development.

What is important is that this is the very first dApp to run on Leprichain. Leprechaun’s primary goal is to demonstrate that Leprichain is a viable, effective chain. It gives the project an actual application that real people will use, and from that, Lepricon gains data that enables them to optimize how Leprichain runs.

Lepricon is looking at the speed of transactions under load and demonstrating the impact of not paying any gas.

One annoying little thing

Every time a participant play, MetaMask will pop up and ask the player to approve the transaction. Well, that’s DeFi for you, and there is nothing that anyone can do about this. However, Lepricon wants people to experience this.

Leprechaun has stated that they will release more information on this in due course, but one of the core activities within Lepricon is developing a hybrid custodial/DeFi wallet solution.

More complex games will become unplayable if every chain interaction requires the full exercise of sovereignty.

In short, Lepricon is making a point that will become clear in their narrative over the next few weeks.

Lepricon City

Lucky Wheel is not just the first dApp on Blockchain, but it is the first game to be part of Lepricon’s arcade and carnival game collection, all of which will be hosted in Lepricon City.

The Lepricon team has stated they expect to have five, possibly six, games on here by the end of the year.

The next game in development is a digital version of the famous Japanese parlour game, Pachinko. This game will be a much more ambitious undertaking as it is a physics-based game with some skill involved in how hard a player throws the balls.

By adding games with increasing complexity, the platform can show, stage by stage, Leprichain’s reliability and use that experience to leverage third parties who would want to offer their players a gasless environment.

Remember, low gas is no gas!

About Lepricon

Lepricon is reimagining the possibilities for entertainment through blockchain technology and seeking to establish the general acceptance of player-owned economies in games.

They believe that gaming can and should be the first killer-on ramp to mainstream adoption, and Lepricon’s stated mission is to catalyze this outcome.

Their activities break into three distinct tracks; technology, entertainment, and DeFi.

Technology

At the core of this strategy is Lepricon’s own high-speed, gas-less Ethereum-compatible side chain, Leprichain.

They are developing software solutions in the form of SDKs, which will empower mainstream game development studios to incorporate blockchain technology into their games.

These solutions are built upon and powered by Leprichain, with the intent to create a drag and drop blockchain solution for mainstream game developers.

Entertainment

Lepricon is developing several in-house entertainment activities that operate on Leprichain, including a collection of arcade and carnival games at Lepricon City.

The first games are straightforward, but they will develop more complex games that demonstrate Leprichain’s capabilities over time.

They will leverage these demonstration games to encourage third-party dApp developers to deploy on Leprichain.

DeFi

Leprichain and all of the dApps that run on it are powered by our ERC-20 utility token, L3P.

Lepricon’s DeFi portal will enable L3P holders to manage their tokens, participate in governance, and benefit from advanced yield-earning activities. Lepricon’s DeFi portal will launch towards the end of the fourth quarter of 2021.
